Transferring Stuff From Your Smartphone to Your Computer

There are various ways to transfer various kinds of data (music, photos, videos, etc.) from your phone to your computer. The easiest way is to just plug your phone into a usb port (either with a usb wire or with a soft cable app) and your phone will appear in My Computer as an attached media device from and to which you can drag and drop data files. Unfortunately, while this works for some data (e.g., it's terrific for mp3 stuff), it does not work for all types of data. The next easiest way is to install an app (there are many to choose from) from your app store or your wireless provider that will do the transfer for you. Android devices have a Kies Air app that does the same although it is quite clunky. Finally, you can email data to yourself, but this can problematic with large data files (as photos often are).
