Two Original Movies: Gambit (1966) and Bedtime Story (1964)

Breaking a time-honored tradition that re-makes and sequels are never (except in the Godfather series) as good as the original, the original Gambit movie should be skipped. It is long and boring and slow and as much as anyone might like Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine, they do not come close to saving a terrible screenplay.

As for another movie in the lovable con-artist genre, if you found Dirty Rotten Scoundrels even mildly amusing or otherwise entertaining, you will love Bedtime Story from which the premise was unabashedly stolen. It stars young Marlon Brando, David Niven, and Shirley Jones, who turn in 5-star performances in a tightly-written and highly imaginative script.
