Shame on Safeway (at Least in Phoenix)
One of the best things about walking across the bridge into the 21st Century was Safeway/Albertson's self-checkout. It was a blessed advance: No more waiting in line; no more abiding time-wasting checkouter-customer conversations; and no more enduring the painful delay in customers ahead of you waiting until all the scanning is done before sliding their credit card. One of the worst things about seeing this wonderful new world of grocery shopping is they are taking it away. Safeway/Albertson's is pushing itself and taking us with it back across the bridge into the 20th Century as it phases out self-checkout. The Glendale and 7th Street self-checkouts are already gone.
PS: The Head of our Department of Don't Bring Me Your Problems Without Bringing Me a Solution, it's Fry's from now on.
