Disposal of Appliances
Some appliances, such as refrigerators and beverage coolers, contain hazardous material and cannot just be taken out and left in the alley to be picked up with your garbage. Refrigerator disposal rarely is a problem because the merchant you bought your new one from typically will take away your old one. But beverage coolers, which are great to have, are a different matter, because when they die, you usually will just order a new one from Costco or Amazon and will not be availed with free removal. There are commercial firms that will remove them, but typically the cost is not less than $100, which you don't want to pay given that the new beverage cooler will cost about $200. Here's the good news: If you call your city's disposal service (at least Phoenix's), the city will come and pick it up and take it away for a nominal fee added to your water/sewer bill on an appointed day.
