If you like really salty language, that's perhaps the one reason to watch this movie. If you want to see a good movie about the early years of the war in Afghanistan, that is not a reason. If you want to see a movie that cannot figure out if it's a war movie or a love story or a serious movie or a comedy, that's a good reason to see this movie. If you want to see a movie that can keep it's volume at a constant level so you don't have to sit with remote in hand to keep raising and lowering the volume, that's another good reason to see this movie. If you like Tina Fey, and don't want to see her mis-cast, that's a good reason to skip this movie. There are some pretty scenes of helicopters flying in rugged terrain. Unfortunately, they are eclipsed by the many annoying scenes with actors poorly directed delivering insipid lines. Let's put it this way: Instead of Tina Fey trying to play an embed reporter but confused as to whether she was to be serious or a comic, the movie would have worked much better if Tina Fey had played Sara Palin as an embed reporter who could talk about seeing a country from her Alaska home that once had been at war with Afghanistan. Finally, if you like Alfred Molina, stay away from this movie like the plague ...you'll never want to see him again--although you'll be glad they cast him and not his verisimilitude Oliver Platt, who made Lake Placid, an amazingly great cult film, and such other movies and television shows so fantastic. And finally finally, the sound track often makes no sense viz the scene it goes with.
