5G

The WSJ has a special, extensive section on everything one needs to know about 5G. It's biggest selling point is speed. For some applications, like virtual-reality head sets, speed is a big deal. For shopping and social media apps, you won't see any appreciable difference. For some businesses, especially those using A-I, and for the Defense Department, 5G can be impactful. So, the bottom-line is this: While at some point the carriers are going to force the use of 5G phones, for now and for most consumers, there is scant reason to pay the premium that is being extracted for most 5G-enabled phones. That said, 200 million G-enable phones are in use today.
