If you have an Android device, finding it (and disabling it) is a snap with the Find My Device App on your phone and then any computer or phone will tell you where it is from the Find My Device website. With an iPhone, not so easy. It's a proprietary thing where you have to know the Apple ID to find it. That said, it's a good idea to go to icloud.com/find and set it up so it's there for ready reference when the Apple device is lost.
