Dry Clean Only Labels That Can and Should Be Ignored

As the NYT reports, many pricey, delicate textiles are actually better off being cleaned at home in the washing machine or the sink—even if the label reads “dry-clean only.” And doing so not only saves you money but also extends the life of the fabric and benefits the environment. Such fabrics include: cashmere; silk; down comforters and jackets; many wool garments; and dress shirts.
