About a week ago, after watching the first couple of episodes, we recommended The Kominsky Method. See Link to Earlier Recommendation . Having now seen through its concluding episode, we recommend it even more so. It is fresh, original, quixotic, tight, funny, droll, witty, and poignant. Parts of it are lighter than others and parts of it are a bit darker than others. But overall, it is astoundingly good. Alan Arkin is superb. Michael Douglas is not as superb but certainy is good enough. The part for Arkin is better written than the part for Douglas, so the performance differential might not be Douglas's fault.We think some of the casting could have been improved (e.g., Tom Selleck who actually does reverse mortgage commercials should have been cast instead of Elliot Gould (who we know is not a nice person), Danny DeVito's part might have been better played by the proctologist from Seinfeld, and even though she acts the part expertly, no one is believing that Lisa Edelstein has a chronic drug addiction problem, especially given her time on House which would have coincided chronologically and yet there was no hint there), this is a minor nit. If this too short series (shot in half-hour episodes) is not your cup of tea, then it might be because you are too young for it or because it might have more appeal to men than to women. In that event, put it on your GYWL (Golden Years Watch List or list of things to watch in your golden years).
