One would think that a washer would last more than 13 years. Apparently not. Its electronics might fail in just 13 years. Then, to fix it, it would cost $650 to change the motherboard, and that's without any guarantee that the motherboard is the only problem. Of course, that model is no longer made, and new models will not fit on the existing pedestal. So, if you want a matching set, you've got to replace the washer and dryer even if the dryer is fine. Depending on your space, it also is important to be sure the measurements of your new appliances will fit. There is no standard height, width, or depth when it comes to these things.
