For anyone who believes the United States is doing well in the world, this NYT column by Thomas Friedman will buttress that position. For anyone who believes the United States is not doing well in the world, this NYT column by Bret Stephens will buttress that position. Both columns appeared the same day. We don't do politics or world affairs here so we take no position. Nor is this the occasion to point out that Friedman supported the Iraq war or plagiarizes from his own columns.
