The rise in the cost of gasoline is painful for everyone who has to drive an ICE vehicle, and especially harder the poorer one is and the more dependent one is on such driving. But the rise in the cost of diesel affects the price of everything (from food to clothing to every other physical product) that is bought that has had to be transported by diesel-fueled vehicles from someplace to some other place to get from its point of origin to the customer. So, while the news might focus on the plight of truck drivers having to pay more for diesel, its the consumer that ends up paying more, and, again, the poorer one is, the greater the pain. You don't have to be a Paul Krugman to understand this, but we've recently learned of some people who don't get it.
