Rise of the Game Ending Field Goals in the NFL

We had Matt Hasselback (18Y quarterback in the NFL, Pro Bowler, Super Bowl MVP, and one of the smartest football minds I know) and his wife for dinner last night. It was a delightful evening but also quite informative. As Matt explained, the field goal kickers on most teams now can routinely make 70Y-ers, but they don't during the game because the ceding of field position when they miss is too much of a penalty. But, their ability to hit the long ones has changed what the 2-minute drill looks like and what end-of-game planning looks like. Makes you think.
