I didn't need the barrage of complaints from loyal readers to realize the camera work at The Open aka The Open Championship and sometimes improperly referred to as The British Open is horrendous. Whether it's because the technical camera crew doesn't know what a golf ball looks like or how to move a camera or to track a flying object no one knows. Rest assured, I have brought the matter to the attention of The Golf Channel, NBC, and the Royal & Ancient, and they not only were very pleased to receive my feedback, but they assured me they will both look into the matter and refer it to the proper department. In that way, the camera work at the Royal St. Georges Golf Club, the course known for having more elephants buried on it than any other rota course, will not be starting a camera tradition like none other, and so that this year's championship and its crowning of the champion golfer of the year will be one for the ages.
PS: All that said, while there are a few names on the first page of the leaderboard still to be expunged, this is shaping up to be a titanic struggle of great players--which some might say, will produce a win for the ages.
