It would be nice if tennis returned to the days when players made the in/out calls and did so honestly and virtually always correctly even when the call was against them. That's not going to happen. As a result, there is a stupid anomaly in the rules. Specifically, a player hits a fabulous shot that the opponent cannot get but the lines-person calls it out. The player challenges and the electronic eye takes over and shows that, indeed, the shot was in. The challenge therefore succeeds, but the result is not a point for the player, but rather, a re-do of the point. How stupid is that? Well, stupid is as stupid does. But given that the players have long since abandoned honest play anyhow, there's no reason to dole out pity here. At least it's not as bad as the last minute in a close basketball game where breaking the rules is a tactical ploy unlike any other sport.
