As the Arizona Republic reports, while football remains Americans' favorite sport by far, its margin is shrinking. In brief, football's favorite status has retreated from its high point, while basketball and other sports have seen their favorite-status rising. I don't see any short-term problem for football, but if it's playing with me it's playing with fire if it doesn't get a handle on its injury problem and its association with gambling.
