Let's Hope This Is 2018 Redux (at Worst) and Not 2016 or 2024

Trump conned the country in 2016, and the polls missed it in large part because people were unwilling to say they favored Trump. The Dems flipped the House but not the Senate in 2018. In 2020, the people had it with Trump, and could not have been more disgusted than they were when he staged a violent coup. But memories faded, and Trump conned the country again 2024, and again the polls had missed that people were unwilling to say they favored Trump. The question for 2026 is, as the common wisdom of the commentators says, are the people onto and fed up with Trump's con and want Trumpism, or are they even more unwilling to tell pollsters they favor Trump. I am heartened by the number of supposed toss-ups in traditionally Red strongholds. But I  am scared that toss-ups in the polls, which are not electoral wins, will not break the way all sane people want them to break.
