A loyal reader canceled his subscription to the Arizona Republic. He received in the mail an invitation to start up his subscription again with a "welcome back offer." Among the options were the following:
"Digital Only: 1. $15 per month for the first two months, then just $45 per month! [or] 2. $7 per month for the first two months, then just $29 per month!" [Exclamation points in the original]
PS: We sent a letter to the Republic about this which added the following final line: "It would not be surprising to find out that those in charge of the business end of the Republic would choose Door Number 1."
